The Office for Cultural Extension offers art classes and workshops for people of all ages, including classes and creative activities specially designed for children. It also opens up university spaces for the presentation of the artistic productions of local artists and groups both from the university community as well as Puebla society at large. It organizes cinema festivals, concerts, plays and dance performances, both within and outside the university campus, in coordination with the cultural offices of both the municipal and state governments.
An event of particular relevance is the National Book Fair held each year in the Convention Center of the University Cultural Complex. The 27th edition of this fair, held in 2014, had the participation of over 80 of the most prestigious publishing houses in the country as well as the participation of university presses and various prominent national and local bookstores. During the last few years, the exhibition “Manos Artesanales” (artisans’ hands) has been held concurrent with the Fair. In this exhibition, artisans from various states exhibit and offer for sale objects and artifacts which are products of their craft.
